Tot een paar maanden geleden werd in de sticky's op een groot internationaal bb forum een bepaald advies gegeven voor de voeding voor, tijdens en na krachttraining. Tegenwoordig staat er iets als het volgende:
Het effect van de timing van nutriënten is zeer klein. Het belangrijkste is het aantal kcal (om massa op te bouwen of vet te verliezen) en de macro's (eiwitten, koolhydraten, vetten) op een dag. Zolang dat in orde is zal de timing van nutriënten rommelen in de marge zijn.

Sommige studies laten een direct gevolg zien van de timing van eiwitten of aminozuren rond krachttraining. Echter, lange-termijn studies geven aan dat het effect zeer beperkt is. Slechts twee studies gaven positieve resultaten (3,4), vijf studies lieten geen effect zien (5-9).
Met de huidige stand van zaken is het voorbarig (en mogelijk nutteloos) om je over perfecte timing van nutriënten zorgen te maken als je goed zit met je totaal van macronutriënten op een dag.
