Metabolism Unit, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Department of Surgery, The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX 77550, USA. ktipton@utmb.edu PURPOSE: Determination of the anabolic response to exercise and nutrition is important for individuals who may benefit from increased muscle mass. Intake of free amino acids after resistance exercise stimulates net muscle protein synthesis. The response of muscle protein balance to intact protein ingestion after exercise has not been studied. This study was designed to examine the acute response of muscle protein balance to ingestion of two different intact proteins after resistance exercise. METHODS: Healthy volunteers were randomly assigned to one of three groups. Each group consumed one of three drinks: placebo (PL; N = 7), 20 g of casein (CS; N = 7), or whey proteins (WH; N = 9). Volunteers consumed the drink 1 h after the conclusion of a leg extension exercise bout. Leucine and phenylalanine concentrations were measured in femoral arteriovenous samples to determine balance across the leg. RESULTS: Arterial amino acid concentrations were elevated by protein ingestion, but the pattern of appearance was different for CS and WH. Net amino acid balance switched from negative to positive after ingestion of both proteins. Peak leucine net balance over time was greater for WH (347 +/- 50 nmol.min(-1).100 mL(-1) leg) than CS (133 +/- 45 nmol.min(-1).100 mL(-1) leg), but peak phenylalanine balance was similar for CS and WH. Ingestion of both CS and WH stimulated a significantly larger net phenylalanine uptake after resistance exercise, compared with the PL (PL -5 +/- 15 mg, CS 84 +/- 10 mg, WH 62 +/- 18 mg). Amino acid uptake relative to amount ingested was similar for both CS and WH (approximately 10-15%). CONCLUSIONS: Acute ingestion of both WH and CS after exercise resulted in similar increases in muscle protein net balance, resulting in net muscle protein synthesis despite different patterns of blood amino acid responses. Het maakt dus niet uit of je wei of casseine (snel of langzame eiwitten) neemt na de training.

Deze stofjes vind je niet in caseine volgens mij. Ion-exchange is made by taking a concentrate and running it through an ion-exchange column. This fancy sounding process tends to deplete many of the most valuable health promoting components even though it increases the percentage of protein. En hierom koop ik geen Ion-exchange wei.

Casseine daarentegen vlokt in je maag, en dus zal het langer duren voordat die in je bloedbaan zit. Als je een uurtje wacht na het trainen dan is je lichaam tot rust gekomen en beseft ie dat het weer rustig wordt en gaat ie langzaam aan eens beginnen met herstel, ipv proberen zoveel mogelijk schade te vermijden (wat je lichaam dan probeert tijdens het trainen, door alles proberen op te slurpen). Hoe het precies en wetenschappelijk in elkaar steekt durf ik zo 1,2,3 niet te zeggen, maar dit is volgens mij wel grofweg wat er gebeurt. Ik verwacht echter niet dat je er ineens kilo's van gaat aankomen, maar alles beetjes helpen niet?

Ik neem zelf direct na de training een shake whey met carbs om de protein breakdown zo snel mogelijk te stoppen en dan na ongeveer een uur een caseine met carbs shake om de protein synthesis te stimuleren. Ik kon mijn methode niet echt wetenschappelijk onderbouwen

Een whey shake met melk zou dan ideaal zijn na een workout volgens dit onderzoek. Zelf neem ik nu voor de training een whey shake met water en na de training een whey shake met magere melk

The present study was designed to determine post-exercise muscle protein synthesis and whole-body protein balance following the combined ingestion of carbohydrate with or without protein and/or free leucine. Eight male subjects were randomly assigned to 3 trials in which they consumed drinks containing either carbohydrate (CHO), carbohydrate and protein (CHO+PRO), or carbohydrate, protein and free leucine (CHO+PRO+leu) following 45 min of resistance exercise. A primed, continuous infusion of L-[ring-(13)C6]phenylalanine was applied, with blood samples and muscle biopsies collected to assess fractional synthetic rate (FSR) in the m. vastus lateralis as well as whole-body protein turnover during 6 h of post-exercise recovery. Plasma insulin response was higher in the CHO+PRO+leu compared to the CHO and CHO+PRO trials (+240+/-19% and +77+/-11%, respectively, P<0.05). Whole-body protein breakdown rates were lower, and whole-body protein synthesis rates were higher in the CHO+PRO and CHO+PRO+leu trials compared to the CHO trial (P<0.05). Addition of leucine in the CHO+PRO+leu trial resulted in a lower protein oxidation rate compared to the CHO+PRO trial. Protein balance was negative during recovery in the CHO trial, but positive in the CHO+PRO and CHO+PRO+leu trials. In the CHO+PRO+leu trial, whole-body net protein balance was significantly greater compared to values observed in the CHO+PRO and CHO trials (P<0.05). Mixed muscle FSR, measured over a 6h period of post-exercise recovery, was significantly greater in the CHO+PRO+leu trial compared to the CHO trial (0.095+/-0.006 %(.)h(-1) vs. 0.061+/-0.008 %(.)h(-1), respectively; P<0.05), with intermediate values observed in the CHO+PRO trial (0.0820 +/- 0.0104 %(.)h(-1)). We conclude that the co-ingestion of protein and leucine stimulates muscle protein synthesis and optimizes whole-body protein balance when compared to the intake of carbohydrate only.

ja, maar wie toont nou eens aan, dat die direct post-training positieve balans ook daadwerkelijk leidt tot een paar kg meer spiermassa in zeg bijvoorbeeld een paar maanden tot een jaar? In vergelijking tot een paar uurtjes later die positieve balans bereiken.... |

Maar ik vind nergens iets terug over snelheid (of ik zit er overheen te lezen) enige wat ik vind was net balance over time was greater En het is juist de snelheid waarmee de waarden stijgen waar het hel wei/caseine verhaal in essentie om draait (als POW). Niet de totale stijging. En de afgifte lag ongeveer even hoog terwijl caseine gemiddeld 2 maal zoveel Fen. bevat als wei (is de wei toch beter) Verders vind ik niet terug in welke conditie de testpersonen waren, waarmee ik dus bedoel wat was de toestand van hun aminopoel toen ze aan de training begonnen? Hadden ze vlak ervoor nog eiwitten gegeten? En er staat wel dat er wei en caseine gebruikt is, maar was dit kunstmatig gezoet? of was er zoetstof gebruikt (aspartaam is gedeeltelijk fen.) enz. Dus als iemand het gehele onderzoek heeft .................. Het
